World War 1 Centenary Drama & Performing Arts Programme

To commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of World War 1, we have teamed up with Dreamshed Theatre to offer a Performing Arts and Drama programme which will be available at a number of our venues throughout England & Wales.

This creative residential programme is drama based and suitable for all Key Stage age groups. Using a range of World War 1 archive material as well as literary sources, the programme is adapted to develop student's performance skills whilst providing participants with a real understanding of these difficult times and how the Great War affected life both home and abroad.

Workshops include:

"Home thoughts from abroad" - the dramatisation of war poems, including student's own compositions

"Child's eye view" - a depiction of the impact of war on young children

"Maintaining morale" - spirit raising shows from the world of entertainment

"The politics of war" - a recreation of parliamentary debate and discussion

"On the boards" - a practical exploration of war-based plays

This 2 night / 3 day residential visit can be delivered at a number of our partner locations. The programme includes all travel, accommodation, meals and participation in this poignant and thought provoking series of workshops.
