How are you operating in these uncertain Covid-19 times?

Firstly, we are providing flexible booking terms whilst we are all experiencing these difficult times. All bookings that are affected by government mandated travel restrictions or venue closures will be offered either a full refund or can reschedule their visit to a later date.

Secondly, all venues and trips are working to Covid-19 - Good to Go operating frameworks. We are comitted to doing all that is possible to keep your group safe and secure. 

How are prices worked out?

Our fully inclusive programmes are advertised "from " per participant. Our commitment is to keep the cost as low as possible to encourage greater participation

Are there any restrictions on the size of a group I can bring?

The minimum group size is 24 pupils + staff, there are no restrictions for larger groups however, not all centres have the capacity to accommodate large groups, our helpful team can advise of suitable sites for large groups at the time of enquiry.

Who makes all the arrangements for our trip?

The team at First Education manage all aspects of the booking from your original enquiry and arrange all of the different package elements with our partners. First Education will also arrange a mutually convenient time for group leaders to carry out a preliminary visit to the centre ahaed of the trip for you to meet the centre staff and discuss your requirements.

How do we make payment?

We provide a straightforward, flexible, 3 stage invoicing and payment process. We do our utmost to make this stage of the planning as hassle free as possible.

What equipment do we need to bring?

None if you're staying at YHA or Field Studies centres, if you are staying at Essex Outdoors you will need to take a pillow case, bottom sheet and duvet cover. Don't forget, you will need to take suitable clothing, toiletries, towels and any prescribed medication. We will provide you with a dietary and medical form to complete before your visit takes place to ensure the centre staff have all the relevant information required to make your visit trouble free.

How many staff do we need to bring?

You must bring at least one leader/responsible person for every 12 young people participating in activities.

Are my group insured on your site and on their journey?

First Group and our partners are covered by Public Liability insurance, any additional cover should be arranged by each individual group. We suggest that all groups purchase their own cancellation insurance.

Do the activities have links to what we are studying as part of The National Curriculum?

Yes! Depending on which programme you choose the activities and residential itself could be linked to Geography, P.L.T.S, History to name but a few.

What are the booking terms & conditions?

Can we only book a 2 night package?

All our packages are flexible and we can tailor each individual request to sit with your requirements and budget.Whether it's a 1 night trip to London or a 4/5 night activity programme elsewhere, we will ensure that we find something to match your requirements.

What arrangements are in place to keep our group safe

First Education and School Travel is committed to providing safe and secure residential trips and tours for its customers. We work with a range of providers who are also committed to delivering their services in a safe and compliant manner. First Education & School Travel takes its duty to protect children, young people and vulnerable adults seriously. All reasonable steps are taken to ensure that any provider delivering services on our behalf will have robust risk assessments, safeguarding and appropriate health & safety policies in place to ensure that all guests are kept safe and secure whilst taking part in their visits.

Accommodation - our accommodation partners have their own detailed Health & Safety and Safeguarding processes in place to ensure that all guests are accommodated in safe and secure surroundings. Hostels and Outdoor Centres are vigilant and have procedures in place to ensure that only guests or other invited visitors are on-site. All bedrooms are lockable and all City venues have Electronic Key Card systems to add further security.

Travel - we only use fully licensed, appropriately insured, roadworthy and DfT compliant vehicles and operators. Driver hours are monitored to ensure legal compliance. NOTE: Group leaders should carry out their own procedures and risk assessments to ensure that participants are head counted correctly as they board and alight vehicles. It is also the responsibility of the group leader to ensure that pupils wear seat belts at all times and that behaviour is appropriate and not in any way distracting to the driver.

Meals - all meals services provided meet FSA guidelines in health & hygiene

Activities - all outdoor activities are fully risk assessed, any tours or visits to museums and attractions are also risk assessed by each appropriate organisation.

Attractions – all visitor attractions throughout the UK are aware of the need to be vigilant in respect of security for their visitors. We ask our school group customers to follow the advice of each attraction visited and to keep their belongings with them at all times. Speak to a member of the attraction staff if you have any queries or concerns.

We do our utmost to monitor the ongoing situations with regards to the safety and security of our customers whether this may be in relation to adverse weather, travel upheaval and any other factors that may in any way affect the smooth running of our trips.

We are committed to ensuring that our customers are always kept abreast of any situation and we will react appropriately if the need arises. We are contactable 24 hours a day in case of emergencies.

In line with the new GDPR guidelines we are committed to managing your data respectfully and in accordance with the law. We will always take into account your preferences and we will never pass your data on to other organisations. You can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link available on all of our email communications. We only ask for information that we feel relates directly to your booking and that we believe is key in ensuring we provide you with a high quality, safe, and secure service. Any person specific data provided by you to us will be securely erased once your booking has been delivered.
