What’s a STEM Residential Visit?

New for 2019 / 2020 – we aim to inspire your students with our brand-new Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths themed residential visits. Working in formal partnership with the award winning Learn by Design team we have produced an incredible all-inclusive residential trip for SECONDARY & PRIMARY school groups. As part of the STEM residential, Learn by Design’s dynamic team of Education Communicators deliver a series of incredible Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths related workshops covering a wide range of topics.

The package is built around STEM workshop sessions and is also interspersed with a series of traditional outdoor activities.

Who are Learn by Design?

Learn by Design have been delivering first class learning experiences to young people since 1995 and have engaged with over 1 million young people. Their mission is to help young people achieve and sustain better lives through a series of innovative, fun and educational STEM themed workshops.

Sessions include:

Robotics: - utilising remote control VEX robots, learners problem solve in order to complete various challenges involving robotic components
Wind Turbines: - Tasks to raise the awareness of wind energy will see students build, construct and test their own wind turbine
Electric Circuits: - Using ‘Brainbox’ circuit systems, students learn about components, symbols and different types of circuits.
Bridge Building: - Building of keystone bridges lead into a digital session exploring structures and load capabilities
Forensic Farm: - Immersive storytelling, explores a variety of scientific themes including forensic techniques, UV light, ecology, food chains and field guides
Bespoke sessions: - are also available in topics that include Enterprise, STEMployment, Science of Sport and Code Breaking.

What’s included?

When we say ALL-INCLUSIVE we mean it. Our STEM residential trips can be delivered ALL YEAR ROUND at any one of 50 stunning venues across England, Scotland & Wales. Everything is included in the package – TRAVEL – ACCOMMODATION – MEALS – LEARNING – ACTIVITIES. Sessions are fully interactive, exciting and most of all FUN!
